Hi have a 1992 7.3 super duty diesel. It has worked perfect until yesterday, everytime I pushed the clutch in to stop at stop sign it would stal. Now this morning it won,t even start. Any suggestions were to start with this problem?

Hi, just bought a 95 E350 with a 7.3 turbo. It ran perfect until yesterday when I was idling at a light and suddenly the motor started missing real bad and I could barely get up to 35mph. No smoke (watched out side mirror), while I was winding the motor out. The motor had been running for about 5 minutes when this happened and was just moving the temp needle. Tests at home after a fuel filter change and water draining (none found), the motor was started and was still severely missing. When I checked the exhaust manifolds, the left side was heating normally while the right side remained cold. I also cracked the nut on the fuel rail to check for pressure (OK). Could this be a fuse or fusable link which knocked out the glow plugs on the right bank? Thanks, Dave

I have a 2001 excur 7.3 turbo deisel has blown fuse #17 instrument panel, GEM, several times today. engine will not respond to accelerator pedal, all gages and lights on dash are dead. replacement of fuse corrects the problem for a short period. What is going on ? How do I fix it ?

Well it happened. I through my driveshaft while traveling down the highway at 70 mph. It appears my front U-Joints were the cause. Unfortunately in the process it split the cast aluminum casing between my transfer case and my transmission. Can any one point me in a direction for a diagram and some good prices. By the way I have a lifted 2006 F-350 with the 6.0L.

I have a 6.7 and it has recently started a high pitched squeal under certain acceleration...if you give it more or less throttle it tapers off then goes away, does it hot, or cold. Seems to come from front drivers side of engine, and is getting louder and more frequent daily...help..

AND the wait to start engine lite will not come on at all now. at first i thought it might be vapor locked or overheated. but even after letting it sit long enough to cool completly still will not start and the wait to start lite still doent come on.!!!!!!!!!!!! I have a International 95 triple 444e truck but its been having a problem now. I can turned it on when its cold and it runs good dosent even turn off but once its hot and you turn it off it wont turn on until you let it cool off but you use starting fluid and it will turn right away even if its hot. Another thing i notice is theres a way to turn it on when its hot but it has to be 10 seconds after you turn it off because if you wait for more then 1 minute you either have to wait till it cools off or use some starting fluid.

I have a 94 GMC Sierra 6.5 turbo diesel I have replaced the alternator , both batteries and all the battery cables...... the problem is the alternator get so hot it will burn you and if you keep running it it burns out,,,, the new one does the same as the old one.anybody have any ideas to correct this problem.

i have a 1997 f350 4x4 7.3 powerstroke diesel with a e40d transmission the truck just hit 100,000 miles and the trans blew im replacing it with a ford reman. any suggestions for a shift enhancer or something to save my new trans.i tow alot allways take it out of overdrive and never beat on my truck .i changed the fluid often and allways used synthetic trans fluid. my truck had a banks trans command but it also blew at about 75,000 miles.

I have expierenced on 2 seperate occasions a brief stalling period upon acceleration of my 2002 Dodge Ram 2500 Cummins Diesel. It seems to clear about .5 mile down the road. This first happened about 3 weeks ago, and I thought it was the fuel filter, for I was @ 24,000 miles and it was last replaced @ 12,000 miles. I also thought it may be bad fuel, for I topped off my tank @ a different location than where I usually go for diesel. I did have my fuel filter changed 2 weeks ago, but the stalling happened again this morning after the filter had been changed. I hope that it's nothing major-please assist! Thank you!!! Martin

I have an "03 Dodge 3500 with 5.9 Cummins/Auto....it occasionally wants to stall when coming to a stop or some times on startup it will surge revving up and almost stalling before revving up again. No problem at all off idle except for a slightly detectable surge at cruise speed sometimes. It might do this one day all day...then never again for weeks...whas-up???...anyone???

We have just purchased a 2005 ford f250. Had a friend just check it over and looks like the catalytic converter has been taken off when a after market exhaust was put on. Called 2 dealers and spoke to the service mgrs...they say "no problem no emmission testing in northern virginia" We feel like it may become a problem...Should the dealer who sold us the vehicle told us this was a possible issue and does this then suspend the manufactor warrently we supposedly still have?(vehicle is under 100,000 miles)

Paul, 99% sure you have blown a casket seal. The white smoke is your anitfreeze blowing by the gasket and into the cylin. as part of the combustion. It's a matter of time before it gets much worse and you have real problems then.

This is for Robert Weger of Ohio. The cam position sensor is located just under the water pump. If you lay under truck and reach just up past bottom pulley you will feel the wires leading to it. I have same truck and had to recently change it out cause the truck would for no reason die then start right back up. $25.00 part and about 15minutes of banging my knockles fixed it. Hope this helps.

In regards to Julie C question on her 96 F350 powerstroke not moving, I am experiencing the same on my 97 F250 powerstroke. The explanation I got from the transmission shop is that on my E40D tranny the planetary gear broke apart taking out the primary pump gear. I hope that is not the case with your truck as my bill will be about $2400 with parts and labor.

From what I've seen by reading most of these questions, is just either ignorance, laziness, or whatever. Not trying to be mean but, too many of you shouldn't even own a diesel if you can't read your owner's manual, buy a cheap service manual (which has the answers to most questions), or buy a good service manual. Reading this board makes me scared to buy anything used anymore, because people that don't know what they're doing try to fix stuff they know nothing about and have been too lazy to try to figure out themselves. Either take it to an educated mechanic, educate yourself, or don't buy a diesel. BTW It is CUMMINS, not cummings. Not trying to knock the people that actually know their stuff, I just can't believe how stupid or lazy people have gotten anymore. Have a great day!

Mike Berard : I had the same problem with my 03 duramax. One of your heating elements has burnt out. I checked the bottom, then the back. The back was burnt out on mine. It will be quit noticable, big burnt patch. Depending on the s/n You will be able to buy the element or you may have to purchase an entire seat cover from the dealer. Covers are around $600.00 and an element is around $200.00. You have to take the seat covers off to access the heaters. Later

We brought our 2004 E450 6.0 liter powerstroke turbo diesel powered RV to Mexico. It ran great getting here, has only 19,000 miles. After only four days parked, turns over but no ignition. We changed fuel and air filters, no difference. We can't find a mechanic with a computer to help diagnose the problem. All dash lights read normal, battery is strong, plenty of fuel in tank. Any ideas? Also could use help finding a dignostic computer on-line that I can order.Thanks

Our 7.3 deisel uses so much oil that we never go anywhere - not even a short trip without first filling it up, and making sure to carry oil with us. I changed the frame-rail fuel filter(by the fuel tank) on my 1979 GMC diesel truck. It started but wasn't receiving an adequate amount of fuel, especially when more power was needed. I tried priming the filter canister, but that didn't work. Any ideas?

I have a 2000 Ford F-550 7.3 powerstroke. The check engine/service engine light comes on and within seconds, one cylinder looses power resulting in a miss. When the light goes back out - the cylinder comes back online and the miss is gone. The light/miss may be for a couple minutes or a couple hours. Lately it's been on most of the time. I took it to both Advanced Auto and Autozone and both plugged in their analizers while the light/miss was accuring and BOTH analizers came back with NO CODE - system passes !! last night, we pushed the overdrive switch and suddenly all the gauges in the truck died and we had no response when accelerating. The truck would start, had all our lights, and would switch into gear, but the gas peddle did nothing. Has anyone ever had this problem?

I have a 2000 7.3l F250. It runs fine until it warms up (about 1/2 hour) then it starts to splutter and eventually runs very rough and has very little power, usually just enough to get somewhere safe. Have changed the fuel filter and cam sensor with no change. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to ohm out your glow plugs and find the possible bad one(s). Then chech your glow plug relay next to the fuel filter...The leak could be the o-ring in the water drain valve

I have a 2003 6.6 duramax. The voltmeter is slow about comming up after craking it. As well as adding fuel it take a mile to show I put fuel in it. Does anybody else have slow meters?

I HAVE A 2003 SUPER DUTY THAT IS BECOMING HARD TO START AT 60 DEEGREE AND LOWER TEMPERATURES. I JUST CHANGED MY FUEL FILTERS AND DRAINED ALL THE WATER OUT OF THE FRAME RAIL FILTER. IT APPEARS TO BE SPRAYING LIQUID OUT SOME WHERE ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE PERHAPS A COUPLE BLOW OFF VALVE? IT IDLES ROUGH AT THIS TIME OF COLD STARTING AND IF IT IS REALLY COLD 20 DEEGREES OR SO IT DIES, CYCLING THE GLOW PLUGS SEEMS TO HELP IT STAY RUNNING, BUT IT STILL IDLES ROUGH. I JUST HAD FORD CHANGE THE OIL AND FILTER, THEY TOLD ME THERE WAS WATER IN THE FRAME RAIL FILTER, THAT IS WHY I CHANGED BOTH FILTERS. I AM WOUNDERING IF WATER CAN GET PAST THE FRAME RAIL FILTER AND IF THAT IS WHAT IS SPRAYING FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE ENGINE,IT HAS LESSONED IN VOLUME SINCE I CHANGED THE FRAME RAIL FILTER BUT IT IS STILL DOING IT. SHOULD I TAKE TO FORD AND HAVE THEM CHECK IT OR IS IT GOING TO KEEP GETTING BETTER AND STOP SPRAYING THE LIQUID I ASSUME IT IS WATER.

have 94 dodge 2500 pickup with 6 cyl cummings diesel engine. starts easy runs good but after 15/20 miles starts bogging down gets down to 15mph I pull over stop waite 20 to 30 min. then start the same cycle over again. Ive.cleaned tank changed filters replaced transfer pump changed regulator module. still same problem.

I have a 99 f250 with the P.S.D. It will run down the road fine for a while then the motor dies. Seems like it runs out of fuel. If I turn the key on and off a couple times, it seems to build enough pressure to restart it. Also, the blower motor for the heater and the dome light will sometimes stay on with the ignition off and the key out. The other night my horn started going off, the lights turned on very dimm and the dome light turned on all by themselves. I started having the stalling problem a couple weeks before the others and am not quite sure if it is related or not.

How difficult is it to replace the vacuum actuator pump for my 4 wheel drive? I have replaced the left lockout, cause it was screwed up. Now the 4 wheel drive only works if I manually lock them it, oh yeah it is a 2000 Ford F-350.
